Quality replacement windows and doors

Vision Doors and Windows supplies products with A-rated energy-efficient glass (the industry minimum is B). These are the best performing double glazed windows and doors on the market when it comes to energy efficiency and heat retention.

Our replacement windows and doors are also high spec from a security point of view.

“It’s sensible to get several quotes when it comes to double glazing. But don’t jump to the cheapest quote too quickly. It’s worth looking into the quality and specification of the products to make sure you’re comparing like with like.”

When to replace double glazed windows and doors

If your double-glazed windows and doors have been in place for over 20 years then it’s worth considering replacements. Today’s products are far superior from an energy efficiency point of view. They keep your house warmer and there is less scope for heat to escape. Music to the ears given current energy prices! Window and door company london

Over time, double glazing units can become compromised. Signs that they are ready for replacement may include:

Condensation between the glass panes

Deterioration
of the rubber seals

Hinges that fail or stick

Sash pulling away from the frame

Units becoming difficult to open and close

Windows and doors also go a long way towards setting the look and feel of your property. From aluminium double glazed windows, UPVC windows, composite front doors, bi-folding doors, patio doors, conservatory roofs and more. We see a huge number of enquiries for grey UPVC windows and doors from people seeking a more modern look. Whilst also benefitting from the associated advantages of the improved efficiency and performance of the newer products.

Whatever your reason for considering new replacement windows, Vision Doors and Windows will provide friendly and expert advice.

FAQs

How do I know if I need to replace my windows?
If your window problem is minor then you might be able to repair the window yourself, however, it is always best to have the window looked at by an expert to determine if it can be fixed or will need a replacement window.

You can tell if you need new or replacement windows by checking through these statements:

  • My windows don’t open and close easily. In this instance, the window frames could have warped, started to rot, or maybe the wrong size.
  • My windows are drafty. This issue occurs when a window doesn’t shut properly, the locking system no longer works, or the windows are single glazed. Windows with double glazing are significantly more energy-efficient than single glazed windows, so you could end up saving quite a lot of money on your heating bills by switching.
  • You can hear outside noise from inside and the window is shut. This is usually a sign that the windows are very old and will need replacing.
  • Your window is leaking. This is a sign that the seals around the glass have gone, replacing existing windows with new double glazed windows will be the most cost-effective option.
  • My windows are over 15 years old. We always recommend asking an expert if an old window is still in good enough condition or if a replacement double glazed window will be needed.
How does double glazing keep more warm air in?

The two panes of glass are separated by spacers, with the gap filled with Argon gas. Argon is denser than air, which means it stops cold air passing by way of the final pane of glass that’s inside your property.

Ideally, you are going to want a 20mm gap in between every pane. Because you cannot have very thick windows, this measurement has been set as the best space to have among the panes of glass.

What is the difference between “sash” and “casement” windows?
Sash windows are more traditional and slide up and down, whereas casement windows give greater flexibility and have “openers” that can be pushed out or tilted in.
Are your doors wheelchair friendly?

Our replacement door thresholds can be modified to accommodate wheelchair access.

What causes condensation on double glazed windows?

Condensation on the inside of the double glazed windows is caused by the occupants lifestyle and by lack of ventilation. When condensation is on the outside, this is a sign that the window is successfully keeping the cold out.

How to clear misted double glazed windows?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to clear misted double glazed windows. These will need to be replaced.
